Eligibility criteria

In addition to meeting the general eligibility criteria detailed in the General Guidelines and Terms of Trade (PDF 2.5 MB), each applicant must:

  • be an early or emerging Tasmanian screen practitioner, committed to career in drama, comedy, factual, documentary or games production.
  • be a Tasmanian resident (for Tax or Electoral Office purposes) for at least six months before applying.
  • be able to commit for a minimum period of at least 8 weeks or more.
  • be able to satisfy one or more of these requirements:
    • Graduation from a relevant tertiary course.
    • Production credits on at least 30 minutes of screen content, either professional or amateur.
    • Significant related experience in other parallel industries that qualify the applicant for the specific role (such as electrician, carpenter, hair and makeup).
    • A show-reel demonstrating self-produced content.

Current students (including high school or university) are not eligible for professional training opportunities.

Please contact Screen Tasmania to discuss your interest in future opportunities, especially if you are graduating within the next 6 months.

Screen Tasmania reserves the right to waive any eligibility criteria in exceptional circumstances where the applicant meets the intent of the program and would otherwise be eligible.

Note that in some cases, attachments or traineeships may be advertised as only for people of a specific background. This may be undertaken, for example, on gender, identification as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, or other diversity grounds to advance inclusiveness and diversity in the Tasmanian screen industry.

Additional eligibility criterion

In addition to the eligibility requirements above, applicants must be emerging Tasmanian screen practitioners. Experienced crew are not eligible for attachments.
