Industry Event: Fiona Gilroy from Flame Distribution
Fiona Gilroy, Sale and Acquisitions Manager at Flame Distribution, is coming to Hobart to share her knowledge and experience with Tasmanian factual content creators. This is a great opportunity for experienced, emerging and aspiring screen practitioners to learn about the global business of factual content, the role of international distributors and current market trends.
It's also an opportunity to discuss your own factual projects and receive valuable feedback from someone who understands the highly competitive international market for factual content.
Flame Distribution is a specialist factual distributor working with over 80 independent producers from around the world to distribute their content into broadcast TV, online, DVD, inflight and educational markets worldwide.
With over 25 years' experience in television content sales and marketing, Fiona has licenced content to broadcast and other platforms in nearly every territory in the world. As Sales and Marketing Operations Manager at Film Australia in 1989, she built their catalogue across all genres. From 1996, she was Content Sales Manager at SBS, working with Australian indies at all stages of development, preparing marketing plans and helping obtain funding through presales and market interest. Fiona then established her own consultancy, Fi'sAbility, in 2009, working with producers to maximise commercial opportunities in the international marketplace. Since 2011, she has headed up Flame Distribution, representing over 1 000 hours of factual and documentary content from over 90 independent producers around the world.
