Award-winning Production Executive, Sue Clothier, formerly of Northern Pictures, has established Utopia media in Hobart to develop and produce original content for the Australian and International broadcast and non-broadcast markets.

Sue is looking for a Development Researcher/Producer's Assistant. This person will work closely with the producer to research and develop new and existing concepts, prepare market pitch materials, assist with preparation of financing documents and funding submissions, and conduct general office duties.

Screen Tasmania is offering up to 20 days as an attachment to Utopia Media in the above position.

The successful attachee will be paid pro-rata $800 per week gross, in line with Screen Tasmania's Emergence program terms.

Beyond that, Utopia Media is offering the right person a six month part-time (three days per week) contract with an option to extend.

Skills needed

The person chosen will need to:

  • be organised and show great attention to detail
  • have good computer and social media skills
  • be proactive, enthusiastic, confident and articulate in person and in writing
  • be able to multitask and anticipate the needs of the producer
  • be flexible, able to prioritise and make decisions as required
  • be able to work with discretion, handle confidential material and understand data protection, and
  • represent the business at a corporate level.

A working knowledge of TV production, some background in the media industry and previous experience in an assistant role would be ideal.
