Alive and Kicking

Four half hour documentaries tracking the off and on-field drama played out on the gravel and grass of Tasmania's rural communities in a season of 'country footy'.

Funded by Screen Tasmania and commissioned by SBS, 'Alive and Kicking' will be screened form 27 August 2008 over four weeks as part of SBS' 'Inside Australia' series.

Freefall

Kate is a young single mother trapped in the grind of everyday life. With each day pulling them further apart, she struggles to provide emotionally for her withdrawn son Peter until a series of mysterious and magical events challenge her to see Peter for who he truly is.

Freefall was developed in 2006 through the Short Fuse programme operated by Screen Tasmania and AFTRS. The programme assists local filmmakers with their professional development.  Following a competitive pitching process, two scripts were selected to proceed to the next phase of professional script editing before each film received a grant for production.

Production was completed in March 2008.

The Passionate Apprentices

Down in Tasmania there’s a little valley under Sleeping Beauty Mountain where no-one goes cold or hungry... how’s it work for heaven’s sake?

This new film by Roger Scholes and Lynda House tells the story of a network of families living in the small towns and forests under Sleeping Beauty Mountain in the Huon Valley in Southern Tasmania. These people come from across the globe. Traditional practices continue alongside blended experience. Family craft secrets are traded. Passions are passed on. It’s not a fixed ideology, it’s a loose way of living.
