Special Initiatives - Short Drama InitiativeProduction funding is available for a limited number of short drama productions Aim of the program This program recognises the value of short film production as a stepping stone for practitioners towards the development and eventual production of longer form projects. It aims to provide the opportunity for talented individuals in collaborative teams to develop their craft and expand their credits through the production of a short film. The expected outcome of the program is a high quality short drama that can compete in the national and international festival market. Producers will have sole responsibility for driving the production and providing their emerging team with the support necessary to produce a film of high standard. For example, in assessing the special needs of the creative team and project, Producers may decide that the team and/or production would benefit from guidance from more experienced industry professionals. Such guidance might include but is not limited to the following forms: A producer may feel that the script needs further polishing and employ the guidance of a mentor/script editor to work with the creative team A director might be in need of an experienced mentor director to guide him or her through the production process Experienced industry professionals can be sourced Australia wide in order to provide the best possible mentoring and/or assistance and teams are encouraged to attach mentors prior to applying. Mentors must be paid for from the production budget. The program also aims to provide opportunity for local crew to further develop their skills through working on the production of a short film. It will be expected that the production will employ Tasmanian based crew and services, unless exceptional circumstances are agreed in consultation with Screen Tasmania.
