Industry and Cultural Development - Event and Organisational Funding

Aim of the program

To promote screen culture in the state; build audience interest and awareness of the local, national and international screen industry.

To provide opportunities for skills training, professional development and network building for local content creators.

About the program

Applications are invited from interested organisations and individuals involved in building and developing a screen industry and culture in Tasmania.

Funding is available to Tasmanian organisations or individuals for activities taking place within Tasmania.

Funding is available to non Tasmanian applicants for events which take place in Tasmania and demonstrate a significant benefit to the Tasmanian screen industry or culture.

In certain circumstances Screen Tasmania will consider applications for activities that occur outside Tasmania but only where there is a demonstrable net benefit to the state.

It is expected that a number of employees will be sourced from Tasmania, attachments will be favourably considered.

Funding is available for activities held annually or on a one-off basis conducted by individuals or organisations operating in the screen industry in Tasmania.

Examples of these activities include:

  • screen based festivals
  • professional training programs including courses, workshops and seminars
  • conferences
  • screen culture events such as, forums, exhibitions, touring programs
  • screen based activities in regional areas
  • indigenous screen related activities
  • multicultural screen activities
  • organisational funding – by invitation only. Funding is available for selected organisations whose core activities and programs significantly contribute to industry and or cultural development in Tasmania.

Who can apply

All applicants must meet Screen Tasmania's General Eligibility Criteria in addition to the following:

  • industry and cultural development funding is not applicable to screen content creation, travel assistance for individuals, equipment purchase or capital works
  • additional eligibility criteria for organisational funding:
    • organisations invited to apply for funding will have a substantial track record of achievement in terms of delivery, innovation and quality, and must demonstrate they are the significant provider of their service or activity in Tasmania
    • Screen Tasmania recognises that in order for organisations to deliver services and activities of significance and quality, a robust and sound organisation with a stable infrastructure is required. As such, funds under this program may be directed towards the operating costs and administrative overheads incurred by an organisation in delivering its agreed programs
    • to be eligible for this type of funding, organisations must be membership based, incorporated not-for-profit entities, with an independent professional board.
    • organisations will be required to submit comprehensive, strategic and management plans, extensive financial information, budgets and accounts, and a comprehensive program of proposed activities for the funding period
    • funded organisations will be required to liaise with Screen Tasmania, to enter into performance agreements and to provide regular progress reports, performance indicators and financial information including audited accounts and annual reports
    • organisations meeting the above criteria should contact a Screen Tasmania Project Officer to discuss eligibility for this type of funding.
