This program is intended to give Tasmanian producers the skills to produce content of an international standard that is competitive in the marketplace. It is expected that by the end of the third year each producer will have advanced at least one major project into production. Funding is available for emerging Tasmanian producers to develop a slate of projects including: feature film; television drama; documentary; animation; digital media projects.
This program recognises the value of short film production as a stepping stone for practitioners towards the development and eventual production of longer form projects. It aims to provide the opportunity for talented individuals in collaborative teams to develop their craft and expand their credits through the production of a short film.

In partnership with Screen Tasmania, the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) ran a Locations Survey Management Course in Hobart from 28-31 July 2008. Conducted by respected Locations Manager, Phillip Roope (Australia, Superman Returns and Lantana), the course took nine students through the process of scouting, surveying, recording locations and assessing them for feasibility of filming. Practitioners who successfully completed this course will be favourably considered as potential Location Scouts for Screen Tasmania.
In October 2007, Screen Tasmania hosted a series of workshops by the internationally acclaimed Arista to help Tasmanian practitioners further develop their script and craft skills, and assist in developing their stories to advance them into production.
Screen Tasmania hosted the internationally renowned Arista script development residential workshop, at Freycinet Lodge from Sunday 13 to Saturday 19 July 2008. Twenty-nine participants took part in a series of intensive workshops over the week.

Screen Tasmania announces an exciting opportunity for a Tasmanian writer to participate in the Arista and NTFO script development initiative - Ignite.
Ignite supports projects in the early stage of development by taking participants through an intensive accelerated feature development process over six months, with two residential workshops and financial and online support to write a draft between the workshops.
Screen Tasmania is calling for applicants to submit projects for consideration to be accepted into the Ignite program, ready to attend the first residential workshop in the heart of Australia, from Sunday 1 March - Friday 6 March 2009 inclusive.

Project teams create proof of concepts, engaging presentations and evolve the business, technical and creative aspects of their property, leading to pilots, user testing and participatory audiences.
A program of short courses in scriptwriting, producing and directing run by experienced AFTRS lecturers, the aim of this initiative is to provide young Tasmanian filmmakers with a crash-course in short drama production. Additionally, production funding of $10,000 will be provided for three teams to shoot and produce their own film.
