2011 marks the 60th anniversary of Melbourne’s premiere film event, the Melbourne International Film Festival. To celebrate MIFF are inviting all filmmakers – professional, amateur, semi-professional and other – to submit a shot film and go into the running to win a prize never offered in the 60 year history of the event.

Have a story to tell? Then this is the outlet for you. MIFF is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, and they do have some stories to tell! In celebration of their birthday they are inviting all filmmakers – professional, amateur, semi-professional or other - to submit a short film, which will go into the running to be screened at MIFF 2011.

Your film can be shot on any device, but needs to be no longer than 6 minutes in length and feature or reference the Melbourne International Film Festival in some way. Easy!

The winner of the MIFF TAKE /60 Shorts Competition will enjoy the ultimate Festival experience  - a prize never offered before. You will have your short film screened along with the professionals at The 2011 MIFF Short Awards, and have your film and credits appear in the MIFF official program guide that is inserted into The Age. You can also gloat to your friends via Facebook and twitter when the winner is announced via MIFF’s online social networking. What’s more - your film will be featured on MIFF’s brand new website and You Tube channel for all to watch and watch again.  

This prize also entitles you to an exclusive invitation to a host of MIFF red carpet premieres, industry events, after parties and screenings. You will also enjoy a double pass invitation to the famous MIFF Opening Night gala and a nights accommodation at the Sofitel Hotel – so you can party VIP style. Your access all areas pass allows you to mix with industry professionals, stars and enjoy exclusive access to one of the biggest festivals of MIFF’s 60 year history. So, get your MIFF on, and help them celebrate the Festival by submitting your short film!
