AFTRS are offereing a series of courses over March and April, covering Documentary Development, Storytelling in the Digital Age and Back to Basics – Camera & Sound.

From Idea to Page – Documentary Development
March 19-20, 10am – 5pm

AFTRS Documentary Workshop: From Idea to Page is a practical workshop designed to equip filmmakers with compelling dramatic narrative approaches to storytelling. Key topics this course will cover include, creating dramatic narrative, identification of protagonists, antagonists and dramatic arcs, the function of genre and storytelling and the art of pitching a non fiction film.
AFTRS: Storytelling in the Digital Age: a Masterclass with Molly Reynolds
5 April, 10 – 5pm

 This one day course navigates the realities of digital media, studying ways in which screen story-tellers can capitalise on the truths and the trends. Transmedia, multiplatform, cross-platform, multimedia, cross-trans - what does it all mean in terms of screen storytelling? 
What place do social media and related applications tools really have within screen story-telling?
Distribution outlets and avenues are already a hot topic for 2011 as internet operators look to slice and dice the marketplace with the aim of monetising their share. The course will discuss the study of emerging business models and the implications and opportunities for content creators.
Back to Basics – Camera & Sound
April 16-17, 10am – 5pm

AFTRS Back to Basics – Camera and Sound Workshop will introduce participants to techniques and practical skills that will enable them to get high quality images and sound for documentary and drama – with an eye to great storytelling, the goal of all good film making.
